From a left handed chainsaw to a
complete double-team horse,
logging harness... from the 1956
Hayes logging truck to to the
1951 Northwest heel-boom
loader... from the 1921
newspaper cartoons about
preventing forest fires to the
tree that healed itself, the
Forestry Museum is dedicated
those hardy individuals who
built this province through it's
#1 industry... Forestry.
An eleven station storyboard
sequence follows the life of
logging families from the late
1800's.
See the horse-driven stump
puller. Kick the treads on the
1948 "yarder" made from a W.W.II
gun carrier.
Guess the age of the Engelmann
Spruce and win a prize. Take a
stroll through the indoor "Tree
Farm" and see if you can
identify the species.
Complete your visit with a
browse through the gift shop
with it's unique woodworks and
collectables by local artisans.
We are a work in progress,
dedicated to the men and women
who harvest and tend the forests
of the B.C. interior.
