Identification Requirements:
The Western Hemisphere Travel
Initiative (WHTI) is a U.S. law
that requires all travellers to
present a
valid passport when travelling
to, through or from the U.S. by
air. When entering via
land or water, you can use either a
passport or other proof of U.S.
citizenship (such as an original
or certified birth certificate)
along with photo identification
until May 31st, 2009 after which
a passport will be required.
U.S. citizens do not require a
visa for stays up to 180 days.
If you are a naturalized U.S.
citizen, you should carry this
certificate. Permanent residents
of the U.S. must bring their
Green Card. U.S. citizens do not
require a visa for stays up to
180 days.
As well, those admissible to
Canada must not have a criminal
record. This includes
convictions of driving while
intoxicated.
