BCRIC Shares

BCRIC shares were issued at the rate of 5 per citizen by the Socred government in the late 1970’s. It turns out that they are still redeemable. If you still have yours, the Foundation can issue you a receipt (on request) for them at $.56 per share and you will have the attendant tax savings – a value for share certificates that you thought weren’t even good for wallpaper. So, if you still have the certificates, please dig them out and get them to us. We will hold them in trust until we accumulate sufficient numbers to redeem. Certificates from someone’s estate and registered in the deceased’s name, have a very complex redemption process and associated fees that usually exceed the value of the shares so we are not encouraged to try to redeem them. As of March 31, 2006 the Foundation has redeemed 3,795 shares and thereby adding $2,125 to the Community Fund.
